My Education
My education journey began nearly 30 years ago with obtaining a BS in Business Management, and an MS in Elementary Education. I later returned to school to refocus my helping career and obtained an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Education and Supervision from Capella University. I am also a Prepare and Enrich marriage facilitator as well as a Board-Certified Professional Christian Counselor.
As a wife of nearly 40 years, mother and grandmother, pastor, professional, spiritual mother, sister, and friend I would say my professional training and life experience is valuable and my heart’s desire is to impart to others knowledge, wisdom, and counsel to live life to the fullest.
Disclaimer: Dr. Danita is not a clinical psychologist. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She earned her PhD in counseling education and supervision.
My Experience
For over 30 years I have enjoyed my experience as an educator, seminar facilitator, conference speaker, professional development trainer, mentor, and professional counselor. My passion for educating and counseling has focused primarily on mental health – particularly trauma, marriage and family, spiritual growth, and development. I have worked primarily with businesses, education institutions, non-profit organizations, and religious organizations.
As a licensed marriage and family therapist and the owner and clinical director of Mending Hearts Family Counseling, I passionately provide clinically and culturally sound counseling to individuals, couples, and families of all ages and backgrounds as well as lead and clinically supervise a team of amazingly compassionate and skilled professionals. I also enjoy every opportunity to integrate my clinical and biblical knowledge in counseling or conference speaking.
