What can I say about Dr. Danita Thompson? I have so enjoyed being under the tutelage of her leadership and walking alongside this great woman.

It is the uncanny straightforward and yet gentle feedback, correction and sometimes rebuke. But all wrapped up in a very genuine care and desire to see my best. There is nothing that I couldn’t go to her for, there is nothing that I could not receive help or assistance for and my goodness she will pray the heavens down for you.

Dr. Thompson is truly, truly one of a kind a very unique leader, confidant and friend I so enjoy working with her and to be able to name her among the top mentors, guides and angels unaware that my life has been blessed with.

In life, there are specific persons whom we are privileged to cross paths with, capable of pulling potential out of us we did not discern in ourselves. When encountering these people, it is of great importance to recognize this gifting, yet it is even more important to attach oneself to them. I am reminded of the disciples’ encounter with Jesus when I consider how I came to glean off the mentorship of Dr. Danita Thompson. Hearing about her ministry, I visited and observed her actions from afar, even going as far as to stalk her Facebook page, simply to see the fruits of her work. I was thoroughly impressed by what I viewed. However, like the disciples with Jesus, gaining the privilege of being one of her mentees has been more enriching than simply observing.

I could write an essay on all I have gained from being a spiritual son of Dr. Thompson, but three seeds she has planted in my life up to this point include, the freedom that comes through transparency, the desire to live for Jesus in every area of one’s  life, and the importance of keeping ones faith, despite how it may look in a particular season. Knowing Dr. Thompson means knowing that you will hear the truth, whether you want to or not, but it is a truth that is modeled through how she opens up her life for others to see. A truth always seasoned in love.

I have learned the importance of a complete yes to God through Dr. Thompson’s tutelage. Personally, she has challenged me to give God my relationship with my girlfriend, and not conform to the standard of our current culture. Growing up in the church, the normal is compromise at times, but with Dr. Thompson, she promotes Godly living, not just because the Bible says so, but because she has seen the benefits of it in her own personal walk with Christ.

To know Dr. Thompson is to know a woman with unshakable faith. I have had the privilege of watching her lead in the middle of a pandemic and have been blessed by her unrelenting trust in God, seen through how she has led her ministry, handled her business ventures, and taken care of her family. She exemplifies the word perseverance, never settling for anything less than what God has for her.

Much will be said about her life and ministry by the time it is all over, moreover I pray these words give a brief glimpse of the great leader Dr. Thompson is. I am grateful for the privilege of being mentored by a woman who has dedicated herself to making sure God gets every fruit out of her life before she hears a well done by her dearly beloved savior!

The Gift

Have you ever considered yourself one connection away from destiny? I met Dr. Danita Thompson, affectionately referred to as Mom Danita, in a moment in my life where I was seeking clear direction. As a young man I needed someone who could relate to me on multiple levels and without judgement guide me to better living and great hope. Connecting with her gave me the hope and understanding I needed to obtain a healthy lifestyle. Mom Danita refers to this as, “the whole self being healthy.” When you hear her wisdom, you feel the embrace of a mother. When she provides correction, you feel the grace of a mother. I am so glad to introduce her to the world. She is a gift that the world must encounter. Her relentless pursuit for wholeness has become the trademark of her ministry. Leaders are only as good as their prayer life. I recall a time when Mom Danita randomly called me. I could feel the quivering vibrations in her voice. She said, “Son I have been praying for you.” Such a tiny statement struck me with so much power. I could tell by the intonation of her voice this was not an ordinary prayer. No, this was not the cliché church vernacular that is used out of convenience.  This was war in the heavens over my destiny. As you fall in love with Dr. Danita Thompson, I want to encourage you to realize the life of prayer she lives. She exudes love, spreads hope, and guides many into wholeness. You will not be the same after encountering the gift, Dr. Danita Thompson.

Every time someone asks me what made me do a program like this one, I tell them because of who you were to me…. you would fix my hair, buy me girly dresses, listen and teach me as I watched your every move…  You were always prepared, always soft spoken, prepared healthy salads for work, kept a clean house, worked two jobs, was a mother, wife and mentor… and always managed to keep your hair done and dressed nice…. I realized you scheduled everything…. I used to pretend I were you in the mirror and now I mirror who you are to me to all of my students…. Thank You

Dr. Danita’s ability to invoke change in the lives of others is second to none. Her wisdom, knowledge and gentle approach has helped me to grow in areas I never imagined. My life is better because of her.
